Chicago based artist Anne Kauff has been painting for over 25 years, continuing a calling that started in childhood. She grew up watching her mother create intricate copper sculptures, while her father entertained her in church with his imaginative (and sometimes irreverent) doodles in the margins of the church bulletin. The Time Life series of Art on a shelf at home got her looking at and copying the works of the great artists. After a career in interior design, a marriage and two children she returned to her early passion, working as an artist.
Painting out in the open air, Kauff is an obsessive observer of changing light and atmospheric conditions. The resulting work speaks to an emotive experience that organizes the chaotic mix of shapes, colors, and values in the landscape to resonate with an inner vision.
